We are delighted to announce "The Numata Fellowship and Scholarship" of Ryukoku University.
The Numata Scholarship helps international students with good academic records who are studying or wish to study Buddhism at Ryukoku University as regular students or as exchange students.
Also the Numata Fellowship provides help for foreign researchers with a proven research record who plan to research on Buddhism in collaboration with Ryukoku researchers or who plan to give special lectures of Buddhism. Regarding the application process, please refer to "Numata Fellowship and Scholarship-Application Information".
"The Numata Fellowship and Scholarship" of Ryukoku University was established by the now deceased Dr. Yehan Numata. Dr. Numata was the founder of MITSUTOYO Corp. and also the founder of BDK (Bukkyo Dendo Kyokai) who had dedicated his life to the promotion of Buddhism. Dr. Numata strongly believed that the dissemination of the Buddhist teaching would help bring peace and happiness to humanity.

Eligibility | International students with a good academic record who are studying or wish to study Buddhism at Ryukoku University in the sprit of the Numata scholarship are invited to apply. Students are required to have or obtain a student visa (includes regular, short stay and exchange students), and should not be the recipient of any other major scholarship. This is limited to those who are likely to graduate or complete their regular course within the prescribed term of study. (Ex. Four years for Undergraduate study, etc…) | |
Stipend | (Undergraduate) ¥80,000/month (Up to 12 months) * * Students who continue their studies for more than 12 months can re-apply for the scholarship depending on their academic performance and study report. Students who receive the scholarship from September will be awarded the scholarship for a period of 6 months only. |

Obligations | Students must submit their academic record as well as a 10-page study report to the Ryukoku Center for the Promotion of Global Education at the end of their scholarship period. In addition, Graduate students need to submit an official report from their supervisor/advisor. |

Stipend | Scholarship amount : ¥250,000 / month (Up to 6 months) Additional coverage for travel expenses from abroad : up to ¥200,000 *Application for reimbursement is limited to a one round-trip,economy class ticket. *Applicants may apply to receive the scholarship for a maximum of six months,but the actual number of months the award will be given to each successful applicant will be decided by the Numata Committee. |

2. | Scholars may also be asked to give a public lecture or a report on their findings. | |
3. | Scholars must submit a research report to the Ryukoku Center for the Promotion of Global Education before leaving Ryukoku University. |
