Definition of Exchange Student:
A student from our Exchange Partner Universities that comes to study in Ryukoku University.

Privately-funded JCLP/JAS students, please refer to the respective pages.
The information here does not apply to you.

Exchange students follow a different credit system from privately-funded JCLP/JAS students.(Please refer to the JCLP or JAS websites for more information about the class contents.)

More information about classes and awarding credits to exchange students will be explained during orientation.

For exchange students in JCLP
Exchange students have to sit for a placement test during orientation. They will then be divided into 6 levels according to each studentfs language ability.

Class 1 Beginners EAt least 300 hrs of Japanese language studies
Class 2 Elementary EJapanese Language Proficiency Test Level 3
Class 3 Lower Intermediate
Class 4 Intermediate
Class 5 Upper Intermediate
Class 6 Advanced EJapanese Language Proficiency Test Level 1, 2

Exchange students in Classes 1-3 are required to complete 12 credits of Compulsory subjects (Japanese language subjects) and 4 credits of Elective subjects (JCLP subjects or Faculty subjects, as long as they meet the language requirement and are accepted by the class instructor) per semester. In total, they have to complete at least 16 credits per semester.

Exchange students in Classes 4-6 are required to complete at least 16 credits per semester. They can choose from any JCLP Compulsory subjects (Japanese language subjects), JCLP Elective subjects or Faculty subjects, as long as they as long as they meet the language requirement and are accepted by the class instructor.

For exchange students in JAS
